Aurora Viewing

The Northern Lights are central to Alaska winter vacations. Viewing them in Denali is extra special. The aurora is visible from the Lodge. There is a Solo stove available for outdoor gatherings under the Northern Lights. The University of Alaska, Fairbanks Geophysical Institute issues a 3 day aurora forecast. Denali National Park

Denali National Park is a short 10-15 minute drive from King's Deer Lodge. It is the Denali's winter visitor center and is a great place to learn about the roughly 6 million acre national park and preserve.

Skiing

There is no need to drive to a skiing destination, just ski down the driveway and connect to the many trails used by the Iditarod sled dog mushing champion, Jeff King. For those wishing to ski in Denali National Park, it is a short distance away. Snow conditions vary, so be prepared for heavy or light snowfalls and covering.

Denali Fat Truck Tours

Denali Fat Truck Tours is owned by a retired Alaska State Trooper. These machines are awesome and worth your time. During the winter season they have flexible tour times and can tailor Denali adventure to meet the needs of your group.

Snowmobiling

Bring your own sled or rent one from Delta Power Sports in Fairbanks. Snowmachine (snowmobile) out the front door or in Cantwell. If you plan to ride from the lodge, be sure to obtain a land use permit from Ahtna (https://www.ahtna.com/lands/land-permits/).
